Outstanding Poster Contest
On June 17, a faculty seminar was held where the outstanding posters from each department in the Faculty of Health Professions were showcased.
The presentation selected to represent the Department of Communication Disorders was by students Ravit Azran, Shiral Dayan, and Sharon Kochavi, under the guidance of Dr. Dina Wexler-Kashi.
The topic of the poster was: “Differences in the Threshold of Auditory Sensitivity to Noise (Hyperacusis) Between Individuals Discharged After Combat and Non-Combat Military Service.”
The presentation discusses a study that adapted an auditory sensitivity questionnaire (hyperacusis) to Hebrew, originally published in English (Khalfa et al., 2002). The questionnaire was distributed among 60 male participants aged 21-30 who had completed military service. The research findings indicated that the Hebrew version of the auditory sensitivity questionnaire demonstrates high internal reliability and could serve as an effective tool for clinical use. Additionally, it was found that prolonged noise exposure during military service may lead to auditory sensitivity among veterans, impacting various aspects of their lives. The researchers recommend increasing awareness of noise-related damage among soldiers and their commanders, as well as refining noise protection procedures during routine operations, training, and combat.
