Ono Trauma Conference on Fallen of Ethiopian Aliyah and Iron Swords War

Ono Academic College, together with the Wuste Tsega Center for Culturally-Adapted Psychotherapy, held a Symposium entitled, “A War for the Home, A War for the Soul.” The symposium dealt with trauma experienced by Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jewry) relating to their aliya and the trauma experienced by Israelis and Jews around the world following Hamas’ 7.10 attacks. The symposium was dedicated to the memory of the Ethiopian Jews who perished during the trans-migration through the Sudan on their way to Israel (in which, reportedly, 4,000 perished). Its theme was, “Cultural Resilience Builds Mental Resilience in the Ethiopian-Israeli Community.” The Symposium consisted of opening remarks, keynote lectures, a panel discussion with first-hand accounts of trauma following 7.10, counseling sessions and summary remarks.
