Beta Israel Scholar, Shoshana Ben Dor, Learns About Traditional Ethiopian Jewish Prayers at Ono’s Beit Midrash

The 7th meeting of the Beit Midrash for the Study of Ethiopian Jewish Religious Texts at Ono Academic College, took place in person, at Ono’s new Savyon Junction campus. The guest lecturer was Shoshana Ben Dor, a veteran researcher and retired director of NACOEJ-Israel. She discussed different aspects of Beta Israel prayers. These included: the History of Ethiopian Jewish Prayers, Current Attempts to Make Ethiopian Jewish Prayers More Accessible, the Qualities of the Beta Israel Prayers, and an Analysis of the prayer Egzi’o Semane. The session ended with a group discussion regarding whether we can integrate these prayers into our daily lives and if so, how?
