Every Israeli, no matter their background, is suffering from the trauma of October 7th, which is plaguing society at the personal, social and collective levels. Our country needs to find pathways and develop human expertise to deal with this trauma. Moreover, we need to discover how to use the situation to enable healing and post-traumatic growth.
With this in mind, Ono Academic College has developed a new Bachelor’s Degree program in Behavioral Sciences focusing on trauma in conjunction with diploma studies leading to a certificate in therapeutic counseling through phototherapy and play. The program focuses on identifying trauma, mapping it, intervening and moderating it. The approach is based on positive psychology and resilience and uses a host of innovative tools, including: phototherapy, videotherapy, games and more.
The key insight in the Certificate Program in therapeutic counseling through phototherapy and play is that play is a healing space for children. For this reason, our students will learn how to help use play therapy and creativity to create a safe and adapted play environment and expand children’s circle of trust beyond that play environment by choosing games that will tell their story. The children will be allowed to process the trauma and reach their safe zone.
Ono invites you to the new program’s open house which will take place on Monday, 1/15, at 5:00 p.m. at the new Kiryat Ono Campus at Savyon Junction.
