Jerusalem Day, the modern Israeli holiday that marks the reunification of Israel’s Capital City in 1967, falls this year on Friday the 28th of Iyar, May 19, 2023.
About a year after the Six Day War of 1967, the Israeli government established the 28th Day of the Hebrew month of Iyar as the Jerusalem Day holiday. Thirty years later, the government established Jerusalem Day as a national holiday. This day marks the unification of the city under Israeli sovereignty and the special national connection that the Jewish people have had to the city for three thousand years.
