Dr. Maimon-Blau is the first person in her family to receive a higher education degree. She has always enjoyed working on issues that connect research, social activism and teaching. She won the Lion’s Club scholarship for her social activities and, while studying for a bachelor’s degre at the Tel Aviv University Law School, she also taught elementary school students in South Tel Aviv.
After completing her law degree and working for ten years as an attorney, Dr. Maimon-Blau returned to academia and wrote her thesis on the struggle of patients who were injured due to receiving radiation treatment for ringworm. Her dissertation examined the more general factors that influenced the courts’ compensation awards for class action bodily injury suits in Israel. She found that factors such as the victims’ group identity and their social power have a strong effect on the size of the compensation they receive.
Dr. Maimon-Blau’s research has been widely acclaimed and she was selected as one of the most inspiring doctoral students at Tel Aviv University in the year 2017-2018. Throughout her studies, Dr. Maimon-Blau has continued to participate in social and volunteer activities benefiting the public.
