Ono Academic College held a ceremony commemorating the war that Hamas began on October 7th, and mourning Israel’s losses including its 24 students and graduates who fell in battle or were murdered.
The ceremony was hosted by Dr. Michal Shapira, Director of the School of Marketing and Digital Programming. She summarized the way the conflict affected Ono, its students, faculty and administration.
Yinon Keren, the Director General of Ono Academic College’s student union shared his experiences of the post October 7th war in particular his reminiscences of Major Dvir David Fima, who graduated Ono with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, who fell in the Iron Swords War. Fima had served as Keren’s commander in the army.
Rabbi Hirsch Alperovitch, of Ono’s Chabad house read a chapter of Pslams, sang the Yizkor for the fallen, and made a prayer for the immediate return of the hostages.
After the ceremony, participants lit candles in memory of the lost.
