Ono Expert on Ethiopian Jewry to Speak at Brandeis

 

Rabbi Dr. Sharon Zaude Shalom, the founding director of Ono Academic College’s International Center for the Study of Ethiopian Jewry, was recently hosted by Brandeis University for a keynote lecture and panel discussion.  The event was titled: “Telling a Story of Identity, Courage, and Resilience: The Beta Israel Ethiopian Jewry Curriculum Project”.

The event will be moderated by Alexander Kaye Director of the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies  Karl, Harry, And Helen Stoll Chair Of Israel Studies Associate Professor, Department Of Near Eastern And Judaic Studies.  The panelists include:

  • Rabbi Marc Baker, President and CEO of the the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston
  • Sharon Feiman-Nemser, Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Professor Emerita of Jewish education, Brandeis University
  • Shula Molam, Scholar-in-residence at the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute and post-doctoral fellow at the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies, Brandeis University
