Ono Founder Ranan Hartman Chosen by Jerusalem Post as One of World’s 50 Most Influential Jews for 2023
Every year, before Rosh Hashana, the Jerusalem Post publishes a list of the World’s 50 Most Influential Jews. This year, Ono founder and CEO Ranan Hartman was chosen. The Post noted that Hartman has been changing Israel’s higher education sector for the better and pushing to integrate students from underprivileged backgrounds for more than two decades.
In the accompanying profile, the Post explores Hartman’s background and recalls the history of his founding Ono Academic College in 1995. Today, Ono is Israel’s largest independent college, with 20,000 students across its three campuses in Kiryat Ono, Haifa, and Jerusalem. Some 50% of its students are first-generation learners.
The article goes on to describe Hartman’s and Ono’s commitment to inclusivity. The college aims to transform Israeli society by making quality education available to all of its segments, particularly those who have historically been underrepresented, such as Ethiopian, Arab and ultra-Orthodox Israelis.
