The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Ono Academic College held the final event of the Acharaytech Hackathon at its new Kiryat Ono campus.
“Acharaytech” is a program for technological education for students in Israel’s periphery run by the “Acharay!/After Me” organization and the Unit 8200 (the IDF’s Intelligence Directorate) Alumni Association. Youth (9th-12th grades) from all over the country (Nahariya to Eilat) took part in the event, together with staff members and about 70 mentors from the high-tech industry. The event was designed to facilitate the development of technological projects in the fields designated by the organziations’ “Impact” program, which aims to accelerate ventures tackling social or environmental challenges through advanced technology. The Hackathon, conducted in the spirit of the ‘Iron Swords’ war, focused on projects in the following categories: solidarity, education and welfare.
The format of this year’s hackathon was slightly different than that of previous years. There was a ‘Product Fair’ (Demo Day) where vistors got an opportunity to meet the program’s participants and learn about the projects they developed and which were judged later on that evening.
