Oded Gadir Credit: Maariv, Revital Dekel

Singer Oded Gadir is celebrating his 50th birthday with his new album, “I Returned to the Forest.” One of Gadir’s most interesting previous albums “Beyond the Distance,” which he released nearly four years ago, following a music workshop he gave to young inmates of Ofek Prison in collaboration with Ono Academic College.

In an article in Israel’s Maariv newspaper, Gadir remembers the project with the inmates saying, “I gained their trust when I let them understand that I did not come to judge them. I treated each of them like an adult and the material of the album came and went from conversations I had with them.”
