The Jerusalem Post reports that Professor Gabriella Shalev, a member of the Higher Academic Council of Ono Academic College and former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations served on the 2020 jury panel of the B’nai B’rith World Center-Jerusalem Prize for the best online and print media reporting about Diaspora Jewish communities and Israel-Diaspora affairs.

Among the award’s winners Shalev and the other jurors chose are Branu Tegene and Danny Kushmaro of Channel 12 News. Tegene and Kushmaro received their prize in recognition for the five-part series “Mefutzalim” (Split up: The story of the Ethiopian Jewish community) which “followed the lives of Jewish Ethiopians who were left behind following the large wave of aliyah from the area, with several families being split up in the process.”

Ono Academic College is the home of the world’s only International Center for the Study of Ethiopian Jewry.
