Dr. Yaakov Ben-Shemesh, an expert in administrative and constitutional law, was interviewed on The Main Edition” program on Israel’s Kol Berama Radio Network. During the interview he discussed two pressing legal issues brought forward by Israel’s new government.
Dr. Ben-Shemesh received his Ph.D., in Political Philosophy from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA. He served as Legal Assistant to Supreme Court President (Ret.) Prof. Aaron Barak until his retirement in late 2006. Ben-Shemesh is a Senior Public Law Lecturer in Constitutional and Administrative Law at Ono Academic College and regularly appears as a legal commentator on television and radio channels.
Dr. Ben-Shemesh addressed the issue of certain factions in the new government wanting to prohibit the provision of hametz (leavened food which is religiously prohibited during the holiday of Passover). He also discussed the coalition’s attempt to expand the powers of the rabbinic courts.
