Andy Ram, a graduate of Ono Academic College who has returned to his alma mater as an instructor in the field of Sports and Business, recently reflected on his tennis career, current projects and his experiences in Dubai in a lecture given for the Israel Tennis and Education Center (ITEC) and covered by the Jerusalem Post.
Over his career, Ram won 3 tennis Grand Slam championships and represented Israel many times in the Summer Olympics and in the Davis Cup Tournament.
Ram recalled that in 2008, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) actually paid him NOT to play in Dubai so as not to create an international incident. A year later, the ATP fought to allow him the opportunity to play there and he was one of the first Israeli athletes to do so. Thinking back to this time, Ram said, “When I look back, this was the most important thing I have done in my career. It was a statement about what I was fighting for!”
